This paper presents computational experiments with a multiagent framework of design to explore the idea that gatekeeping structures can determine how new solutions are created and spread in a society. These experiments support the idea that creativity transcends the individual domain. Situational factors such as the role of gatekeepers may determine how and who is considered creative in a society.
